Hey All!

Not judging you mate, but you do know that your MSDN key's are meant to be used by you alone, right? You could get in a lot of trouble for openly stating that you share them, especially on a Forum maintained by MVP's and MCCA's..

As for piracy, I don't do it. All music/films/software and even canneds, fonts, textures and graphics I own are my own - either purchased or created by myself.
I had a torrent client for about one year which was solely used for downloading Linux. But since I only use Windows now, I don't even have that.

And in my line of thought; why pirate a film/song? You can listen everything on youtube and stream all films if you know the correct sites.
IMHO the risks just aren't worth the gain.

I was never informed of the rules. When I was in college, it came with the class. I didn't even know what it was until my class was over. Guess that is good information for the future. If only I could get them changed now :(

As for the Piracy, I'm quite anal about my Music, tvshows, and movies. I generally download the music, and if i like the whole album, or at least 90% of it, I'll buy the CD. If I don't like any of it or just one or two songs, I buy those individual songs off iTunes, and ditch the rest. I have a massive media collection at my house, you know of it from SF. My movies are encoded for 1080p for those that its available for, VHS is hard to re-encode to a higher resolution and image when the colors aren't there. But that media is for my family only, its from WMC, and its setup for Read-Only. No one but me has the password to the Admin account.

I eventually plan on just buying all the CDs and skipping the download. I'll continue to do the Movies/TV-shows simply because i refuse to purchase cable since I keep getting screwed. "50$ a month!" after first month, they charge you $300 and then 100$ for every month after.

Just my rant/2 cents.

They never informed you of the rules?! 0.o
Well here are a few good places to get started;
MSDN/TechNET license restrictions
Note;
"Key activity is monitored. Microsoft reserves the right to suspend or terminate your subscription, without any notice or obligation to you, if Microsoft detects suspicious activity related to keys or activations..."
MSDN License information
MS Software Developer Services Agreement (ToU)

You'd think that they would at least inform you of the ToU before giving you access to everything..

Note the MSDNAA, now called Dreamspark Premium, does have slightly different T&C's than normal MSDN.

Dreamspark Premium is the equivalent of MSDN/TechNet for students, I have it myself.

The T&C's of Dreamspark - https://www.dreamspark.com/licensing/Premium-EULA.aspx

The important bit to this discussion - emphasis added.

The software may require a key to install or access it. You are responsible for the use of any keys assigned to you. You may only disclose keys to your staff, faculty, and students. You will use best efforts to make those persons aware of the restrictions on use of the keys. The following terms apply to lab keys provided under the DreamSpark Premium Subscription: (a) lab keys are to be used solely for activating the software in labs; and (b) lab keys may only be activated on the physical campus for which the DreamSpark Premium Subscription was procured.

Thanks for the welcome all:D

As for another question, I'm currently trying to learn myself how to read the stacks from minidumps, but I can't seem to find a proper source of info on the basics (enough advanced info though), so if anyone knows where I can find the basics (already found the BSoD Method and Tips thread), I'd be very grateful :D

You can read through the WDK (Windows Driver Kit) documentation, and it will give you a list of all the public driver routines with the code and explanation of what the routine does. Please be aware, that not all the driver routines are published publicly, and most are reserved for use by Microsoft only.
