[SOLVED] High Definition Audio Controller causing BSOD, extreme latency with nvlddmkm.sys and hdaudbus.sys which is causing freezes/lag.

That's excellent news and thanks for linking that thread! It's interesting that the registry amendment worked though, according to your MSINFO32 file, there was no IRQ sharing between devices apart from two system timers?

I wonder if the same solution would apply to your wireless adapter? Is that still disabled?

I've done a little more digging around in your Stop 0x133 dump file just out of curiosity to see if I could find anything else, and it does look like during the crash, your audio device did fail start to properly:

This is the same device which is listed under sound devices in your MSINFO32 file so we definitely know it was in use.

The Wi-Fi is still disabled on my PC as I use Ethernet anyway. Quite a few devices in Device Manager say they had a problem starting and the Wi-Fi adapter is one of them. I'm not sure why though as it has the latest driver which released on the 9th May 2023. Even my Ethernet says it had a problem starting in the Events tab but it has been working fine so I'm not sure if it's a Windows 11 issue.

Edit: I also keep receiving a warning about the Ethernet almost every time I turn on the PC.

Please enter the following command and then post the result:

Code:
pnputil /enum-devices /problem

It looks like Device Manager must have cleared those errors then or do the said devices still display a yellow warning triangle next to them?

Please open a command prompt window and then enter the following command:

Code:
reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\HDAUDIO" /s >> %userprofile%\Desktop\HDAudio.txt

A .txt file should be saved to your Desktop called HDAudio.txt. Please attach this in your next post. I suspect that the value we're looking for is under the Properties subkey which seems to be inaccessible from RegEdit.

I did note, that the error code shown in the event logs you posted seems to be a generic internal error so the issue is probably very specific to those device drivers and unfortunately may make it very difficult or impossible to resolve from our end.

This is the error which may have been displayed in Device Manager: CM_PROB_FAILED_START - Windows drivers

I have attached the file that you requested along with another image of an error that I keep getting randomly. I have tried researching about this error but the only thing that seems to come up is a Microsoft thread. The person who had this error explained that they changed their 7800X3D but it didn't fix it so they decided to change the motherboard, which got rid of this error. I can't find any information on why this error even happens but it's clearly something CPU related.

I also am still receiving System Interrupts in task manager that go up to 5%. I think that whatever is causing my problems is also causing the abnormally high temps. I have found Reddit forums with people using the exact same AIO cooler as me and the same CPU but their temperatures are in the 30-40 degree range when idle whereas mine sits at 52 degrees Celsius at idle. My CPU seems to go up to the 90's in games that aren't even CPU intensive such as PUBG. Perhaps something in the system is faulty but it's going to be a pain to find out what since almost everything in my system is new. There's people running the 7800X3D with stock coolers with lower temps than mine... The reason I bought this chip is because it's meant to be easy to cool due to its low wattage requirements.

Unfortunately, the registry value which I was hoping would be retained hasn't been. I have been suspecting that the root issue is motherboard related, do you have a spare motherboard which you could test with?

Unfortunately, I have the motherboard but not the CPU as I sold my 9900k 2 weeks ago and my current CPU is AMD not Intel so I can’t use the motherboard.

I decided to try the command prompt again that you gave me the other day and this came back.

What is the Windows Driver Store? How do I update that?

Well I'm back to square one guys. I just updated my GPU drivers to the latest 536.23 after using DDU and the issue with the High Definition Audio Controller is back after changing my BIOS settings. It seems that this MSI Utility V3 doesn't save the settings permanently and reverts them once you install a new driver version. Disabling the High Definition Audio Controller (HdAudBus.sys) seems to fix the extremely high latency. I honestly think that either the CPU, GPU or Motherboard is faulty at this point. I really don't want to RMA the parts as I'll have to wait an entire month for them to be fixed/replaced.

Did you remember to NOT select the Nvidia audio driver when you updated your graphics driver?
