How do I fix corrupt files with 'sfc /scannow' in Windows 8.1 & install Win10

Looks like we are really in a dead-end here. And my suggestion would be to make sure that you don't forget to back up your AppData folder (you can leave out the temp folder, cache folders and such obviously) since most of your programs' settings, data, etc. will be saved there (on top of the Program Files (x86), Program Files and ProgramData folders). Also, if you use a Microsoft account, most of your Windows settings are linked to it so they'll be reapplied after the reinstall if you log in that account.

Much thanks for the suggestion, I forgot about the AppData folder although I do have it backed up through a couple of different apps but it will be easier to access if I have a fresh copy on one of my drives.

You could even export your HKLM and HKCU Software Hives just so you can access them on the new installation to grab data you might need (personalization, settings, etc.). But if you get to this point, you'll have to know what you're looking for.
