How to backup the whole registry in a SMALL package ==D

Aside from the issues about compression etc., have you not considered the privacy issues of taking a whole registry hive from an OP? Assuming it wasn't an OEM license, anyone would be able to extract their product key from the SOFTWARE hive, be it for Windows, Office or any other program.

I believe this would be more of a personal use program, not to be shared with others for reg exports though. There's programs that do already exist out there for such a thing, and which are useful actually. If you can't boot into your computer, and it's due to a corrupt or bad registry change, then perhaps you have reg exports saved to C:\REG_Bakups? Invoke the program, and maybe you make it a command line utility so that you can send to %1 the path to the registry export to merge with the registry currently on your computer to revert changes? :)

Perhaps it's to compare any changes that have happened to your registry from ____ up until _____ to see if there may be any possibly malicious entries in there for bad viruses or files on your computer?

I'm surprised that multiple experts and professionals have told you one thing but yet you continue to say they're wrong.

Have you tried breaking it up into multiple .rar files?

Have you tried compressing the compressed file?

If you wanted to venture into the world of compression, and you wanted to test your hand at your own method or algorithms, something to look into would be serialization.

(Just putting that out in the open for anybody interested in that bit of info.)
