Intermittent 4K@30Hz (DP on GTX 660)

Ah, it's nice to see that the discussion is alive and has gone all the way to disabling sleep. ;) In any case, the monitor was returned and I've been using a Dell P2715Q since -- no issues whatsoever.

Thanks for the update. That sure would suggest the problem was on the LG side.

Are you using DisplayPort or HDMI with your Dell?

Same as before, except it's a MiniDP connector on the monitor side. My card does not output 60Hz over HDMI.

I kinda wish you had tried exchanged the LG for another, just in case you got a defective one the first time. But at least we know it was not your computer/card.

Oh, I tried. The seller's only option was a return (they were out of stock) and other sellers had very different pricing for this model.
There is something to be said about this LG... In terms of out of the box color reproduction, it was hands down the most impressive monitor i've ever seen. LG also did a pretty outstanding job with manual controls. The Dell monitor is ugly (you can murder someone with this bezel) and colors are somewhat washed out even after much tweaking, but build quality is excellent and it pops right up with 4K @ 60 Hz whenever.

It may not have been an actual problem with the monitor, but how its controllers are set up in terms of timing, possibly appropriate for newer graphics cards. I notice that the Dell takes much longer to wake up, it could be that it simply allows more time to negotiate with the card over DP.

A bit off topic but I've had Samsung TVs for years. Late last year, I bought a new LG OLED TV and wow! The image quality is amazing. I know part of that is just because it is an OLED, but still, its amazing, as are the other features and build quality too.

Oh yeah, LG makes good stuff, no question about it. I got a less than a year old 65" LG 4K TV, not OLED, but even without it image quality is impressive. I just wish webos was a bit faster on it, but it's a fairly basic model...
