I did read this but still wanted you to try it out. If Firefox is behaving better then I think we can continue.

Boot into normal mode and let me know what specific issues you are having and then we'll go from there. I need to see if any symptoms changed no that Firefox was uninstalled and reinstalled.

Here I'm again. The computer took 7 minutes to restart. My cursor went back to default again, and Firefox stopped responding with the right click. However, the freezing lasted only a few seconds. I opened an application and was 20 secs to full open, other one lasted 25 secs., and no one started frozen like before. Overall, independently of the dramatically slow restart, the automatic changes and the system starting by itself, I can say that things are pretty better. :thumbsup2:

I will be very thankful if you tell me how to stop the automatic tasks starting my PC without my will. Also, if you could reduce the time needed to shutdown and start.

Let's start with this. See if this helps with the boot.

Step#1 - Install WPT
Download the SDK web installer from here
Run the installer and select the following:
Leave the location to default

Windows Performance Toolkit

You must reboot on completion of the install


Step#2 - Optimize Boot
Note: This process can take 30 minutes or so to run so please plan accordingly.

1. Right-click your Start button and select Command-Prompt (Admin).
2. Answer Yes when asked to allow.
3. You should now have a black window open that you can type in to.
4. Copy and paste the following command into the black window and hit enter.
xbootmgr -trace boot -prepSystem -verboseReadyBoot

5. Now your PC will be restarted 6 times. With a two minute pause before the tool runs after the desktop loads. After the second reboot the MS defragmentation program is running and is placing the files into an optimized layout, so that Windows will boot up faster. The last Reboots are training of readyBoot.
Note: If you normally get a logon prompt before getting to your desktop, you will need to log in each of the 6 times that your computer reboots so unfortunately you can't just leave it to run on its own.

Sorry that I am slow, but the installation stopped at 6%, and I have been waiting like a stupid for it to finish, until after about 6 hrs. I realized it was frozen and I now began the installation again. Tomorrow I will send you any news.

Hi Brian,<br><br>I did all the procedure you recommended, and the boot time has been reduced from 7 to 2 mins. Thank you! However, I am wondering if this is not still long. Isn't it?

I'm not a hardware expert so can't speak for what amount of time yours should be doing. I'm glad it's reduced though. At this point I've done as much as I can with my knowledge. If you would like to pursue this further and also look at why your machine may be starting by itself, my suggestion would be to post an inquiry in our Windows 8 forum where our experts there have much more knowledge on these types of things. My specialty is Malware Removal and Windows Update issues. You can always reference this thread so they know what has been done and let them know you were all cleared from the Security/Malware forum.

Thank you so much for your help. You has been very very useful to fix the computer problems I had. I will open the threat in the Win 8 Forum, because although I know what is the issue, I don't know how to fix it. The culprit is a System task scheduled that I can't change even being the administrator.
