It has begun.... (COVID-19)

99.2% of U.S. COVID deaths in June were unvaccinated people...

It's tragic. There were always some that wouldn't get any vaccine. But the number of people following politicians rhetoric is huge. Some politicians have been straight up saying don't get it! I can guarantee you some if not all of those have gotten it themselves. Tennessee has just basically abandoned their youth

Tennessee abandons vaccine outreach to minors — not just for COVID-19

[Rant]We get the gift of not just one vaccine, but multiple...with great efficacy, and it was politicized to the point that the cases are rising at an alarming rate, and I fear a variant could break out from current vaccines! It's one thing to say I'm vaccinated, that's their problem (not me, I feel for these brainwashed people...), but once again, their behavior threatens everyone[/Rant]

A Guy

I do know a woman who was told by her doctor not to get the vaccine. (She has numerous health issues including cancer.) But why her husband refuses to get the vaccine, in order to try and protect her, I simply can't understand.

I got my first shot of the Moderna version on the 14th. 3:30 AM the next morning or roughly 12 hours after the jab, I woke up with 102F/38C fever and chills. I treated this with Ibuprofen.

Throughout the day I felt like I had the flu without any respiratory symptoms. By 7PM, I was feeling better.

I started not to post this as I would not want to dissuade anyone from getting the vaccine. It is however an expected side effect. Some experience it, some do not.

COVID-19 Vaccination (.0018%)

update 8-12-21 (12-8-21): Got my 2cd Moderna today. We shall see.....

Another thing happened today: I turned 50. yay....

Reaction on the first shot is a possible indication you had Covid already. You also might have another ailment or of course be having an allergic reaction. Most that had the problem, get the second shot with no side effects.

Why did you feel that you needed the vaccine then?

Doctors seem to be split on this issue.
My Doctor said she felt that I had risk factors and suggested I get the vaccine. The risk factors (seen above) of getting the vaccine were less than the risk factors of me getting COVID19 again, and experiencing adverse effects like death.

For me personally, seeing as how I'm a variables/numbers guy, (they are everywhere and in everything) COVID 19 specifically hasn't been around but what, 19 months? No one really knows how long the immunity lasts and if they did, they could only definitively tell you it is at least 19 months.

I'm not talking about the other siblings of the COVID virus, I'm specifically speaking about the novel COVID19.

I am currently reducing said risk factors. In 5 months, I have gone from 274-255lbs (still counting) She has taken me off of the pre-diabetes status. In turn, I have reduced my blood pressure with less medicine. Simple low carb diet (not zero carb) and walking 20-30 minutes a day. I've got to get my 9 year old daughter to at least 30. :-)

Very true. My primary doctor was one of the first to get COVID-19 in the first week of March 2020 (1.5 years ago) and he swears that he needs no vaccine. I see him 4x/year for bloodwork and he has never worn a mask. I was vaccinated in early June 2-21 and this doctor became the very first doctor that I saw and spent two hours with - with neither of us wearing masks. My appointment with him started around 9:30 pm (which is typical and a little early, actually) and as stated, lasted for ~2 hours.

That is awesome and something that I need to do as well. I am on Type II diabetic Rx; pre-COVID, my A1C level was down to 5.8 (type II diabetic range starts @ 6.0 as you probably know). Due to my lung condition, any type of exercise is verboten and impossible. I unfortunately have gained weight during the pandemic; last A1C reading two weeks ago was up to 7.0 ! Not good at all.:(

Do you know what your A1C is?

My last one was 4.2
Wow! Awesome number.

You are very far from being diabetic based on my limited knowledge of A1C readings. I have followed my A1C for the last 10+ years, having bloodwork done 4x/year. My A1C highest reading - 7.0 - back in ~2012 and again 2 weeks ago. It has been as low as ~5.5 over the same period. I was put on Rx meds in 2012 for Type II diabetes because of A1C level but rarely took the "horse pills". Instead, I lost weight and greatly reduced sugar intake (tried to, anyway!).

Seek another doctor's advice/consult as an A1C = 4.2 really is far out of diabetic range. I don't know though if your doctor is looking at any other numbers in blood tests like fasting sugar amount.

Seems we're at it again, many people try and get ivermectin to 'cure' covid or 'prevent' themselves from getting covid-19.
Why You Should Not Use Ivermectin to Treat or Prevent COVID-19

This medicine is often used to treat horses and cows for parasites, but can also be used for humans for scabies, head lice, river blindness, and more, and from what I see on the wikipedia page also for heartworm and acariasis in veterinary medicine.

The wikipedia page includes a paragraph on ivermectin to cure covid-19. According to it, it could inhibit replication of sars-cov-2 in monkey kidney cell culture with an IC50 of 2.2–2.8 μM. Not sure what the last part "with an IC50 of 2.2–2.8 μM" exactly means aside from it being some measure for a certain dose I assume (even after trying to do research I don't understand), but "Based on this information, however, doses much higher than the maximum approved or safely achievable for use in humans would be required for an antiviral effect.", i.e. it will guaranteed get anyone in the hospital with an overdose before it is effective.
