KB4462923 Update trouble on Win7 x64. (Maybe due to recent hard drive change?)

I found threads at Woodys talking about missing Service Stack Update KB3177464 preventing KB4462923 to install, but this one I had installed successfully in october. No idea how to go on.

As I know now - certainly because KB4462923 has many issues - november KB4467107 is an update of the same file. KB4462923 is no longer showing up in WU. But still the same problem 80070005...

So there is nothing we can do about it? I still suspect the harddrive cloning (with HDClone 6). I had switched to a former backup on a from 650 Giga to 750Giga scaled drive. WU did not work at all. I had to install "Intel Rapid Storage Technology" to make WU looking for updates again. But maybe that's what causes deny of access for this heavy security update from october/november. What can I try?

No.

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

Unfortunately, there is evidence of pirated software and tools used to bypass activation methods. As such, I am afraid that I cannot provide further assistance as it is contrary to Sysnative's Forum rules.

There was indeed an unwanted tool activating MS Office 2016 on the system. I bought a legal license for the same office version. I had to repair and reboot. Office is running and updating legally now. But KB4467107, the november version of KB4462923, still refuses to install.

Step#1 - Export Publishers Key

  1. Click on the Start button type regedit
  2. When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WINEVT\Publishers

  4. Once selected, click File > Export....
  5. Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (*.*)
  6. Name this file PUB (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.

Once done please upload this file via file sharing service of your choice.

I see what's failing, I just need to find a way to take care of it. Can you please export the following as hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\Microsoft

Its strange. There is an error message trying to open that key. It says "error opening Microsoft. The key cannot be opened due to an error. Details: access denied" I tried to export it anyway. But the result is another message, saying that the choosen part of the structure is not available and get sure that the selected path is right.

Yes, I had Avast running some years. For this WU failure I uninstalled it some days ago and then I mistakenly installed Avira, confusing the names. Avira found and blocked some stuff. I deleted the program and ran Windows Defender without a result and then I switched to Bitdefender free edition today. It found many unresolved threats, but just showing a few items in the "view files" list, just some threats in old backups of emails from 2005. How can I get the whole list? Just buying the full version?
I also ran CCleaner. This one proposed some programs to delete, like Windows Media Center. I did that. I also ran their registry cleaner, first time 15th of october, when the update problem ocurred. (I choose to backup before the repair and I have saved the files)

If you suspect malware, please start a thread in our Security Arena here at Sysnative and let the experts check your system out (I'm not a Malware Removal Expert yet).

No, I am not suspecting malware, just wanted to get sure, that this is not the reason. Strange, now my new Bitdefender is blocking sysnative website. Its saying that the cerificate used to encrypt the connection to this website could not be verified. Procees with caution, attackers might try to steal..." ???

That's strange. But no, malware is not the reason for this. It is the access denied error. Sysnative is normal for me. Go ahead with the malware check, something may be up. Once you are done, return here.
