There is a discrepancy (several of them actually) between your files and the data in the registry. We have to match them up.

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

KB4515384 - that's the only update I have available. I'm currently on build 18362.295 otherwise.

I’m keen to try to resolve this, given your explanation of the problem and as 19H2 doesn’t seem to install either - or are we out of options?

Okay, let's try:

Out of curiosity, I went round the loop again in terms of SFC and DISM, and this time DISM failed with the following error (and attached logs):

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.18362.1
Image Version: 10.0.18362.295
[==========================100.0%==========================]

Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.
The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

I've done a full upgrade/ refresh in place, and that seems to have flushed it out and I'm now on the latest build. Thanks for your efforts on this - I really appreciate it and will make a donation shortly.
