[SOLVED] Movie Sites Possible Malware

You're welcome ...... hope you and yours also enjoy a great Thanksgiving.

VirusTotal

VirusTotal is a site that allows you to scan files and URLs for infection, you do not have to be a member to use its scanning facility, though you can join the community if you wish.

VirusTotal

As Corday pointed out in post #35 using sites that distribute/stream pirated content is never a safe thing to do, so it's your choice as to whether you want to take the risk or not.

Personally I would not advise it.

The previous info came from .ipqualityscore . The results are different than virustotal . More confusion

Of the 8 AVs that detected it as a problem at VirusTotal, only 2 are from well known AV companies. That does not however mean the site is safe, or that you can disregard the results from the other AVs that flagged it. It would help if we knew whether the detections were based on heuristics or not, since heuristic detections are not as reliable as definition detections.

That being said, as Corday, x BlueRobot, and myself have already said, personally we would not recommend visiting that site ................ and as I said earlier, with an unsupported, unpatched OS like W7, you need to be a whole lot more careful about visiting any site that is even a little bit suspicious.

Thanks. I have added ADW to (Malwarebytes which runs at startup). In Chrome I run( uBlock Origin and Malwarebytes Browser Guard).
I also run Microsoft Security Essentials. With all these I thought I was secure from the garbage that was removed.
Any suggestions on other Protection Programs I am missing?

As I've said on at least two occasions now ...... you are using an unsupported Operating System (Windows 7) and it cannot be made secure

Just to reinforce that point once more, you need to understand that 3rd party protective programs do not patch vulnerabilities in your OS, so any unpatched vulnerabilites are forever exploitable, and trust me W7 was a very popular OS, so malware writers have spent a lot of time looking at it, and discovering its vulnerabilities.

If you want to improve your security, the only thing you can do is to upgrade your OS to one that is still being supported.

Using VirusTotal I checked vw1 - ffmovies - sc .gamesite .info to see, not to run any movies. It came back clean for all security vendors.
The movies do not have a unique url.
What would it require to update to 10 or 11?

Provided your hardware is compatible with W10/11 (not likely to be for W11) then details of how to upgrade can be found at ... Download Windows 10

Minimum specs for W10 can be found at ... Windows 10 system requirements - Microsoft Support ... though it would not run smoothly with those.

I'm not the best person to advise on upgrading on old hardware, and if I were you I'd wait to see if someone with hands on experience of doing so can give you more appropriate advice than that which I've supplied.

The following is my system. It looks powerful enough for an upgrade if I choose.

11 must be a real sob if my system won't take it. Is it primarily for business or where there is a large network requirement?

It is for hardware that came out in the past few years due to certain security requirements that hardware from the past few years support. Considering your CPU came out in 2010, it is unlikely you can install Windows 11.
