No corruptions according to SFCFix!

I'm going to try running Windows Experience Index, as that was always freezing my computer at the "Tuning Windows Media Decoding" stage.

No corruptions according to SFCFix!
In step 2 in my previous post the attached SFCFix.zip should be used with SFCFix. Please read step 2 carefully and redo.

I disappoint myself yet again. I need to pay more attention. I thought you just wanted me to run SFCFix and were giving me a zip file containing the .exe

Well done now.

I'm going to try running Windows Experience Index, as that was always freezing my computer at the "Tuning Windows Media Decoding" stage.
Report the result of that or any other remaining issues.

Running that still freezes my computer at the same point. I tried running sfc /scannow in safe mode with command prompt, but it still says it found corrupted files that it can't fix.

Copy the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log to your desktop.
Zip the copied file and attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

I greatly appreciate all the help thus far. I suspect that almost all of the issues are do to missing registry entries and DLL files, and you've already helped me fix much of that. I will definitely be making a donation when this is all said and done.

Install Update with DISM

  2. Copy the MSU file to a convenient location (such as C:\temp).
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  5. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    cd C:\temp

replace C:\temp with your path if different

    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\temp\windows6.1-kb4555449-x64.cab

  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.
  7. If you receive any other message:
Post a screenshot of the Commandprompt window.
Zip and attach the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Reboot the machine.
Check Windows Update and provide a screenshot of the available important updates.

There are none, only an optional update for the Edge browser that I don't want. I've always kept those up to date. However, there are 2 driver updates which I have been keeping rolled back due to random freezing issues with the most recent ones. After all of these fixes I thought they'd probably work now, but unfortunately the same problem occurs. Also, after running another scannow, it's still saying there are corrupted files it can't fix. This seems never ending. On the bright side, windows experience index now works without issue!

Here is the log after the most recent scannow, and I will give more information about those 2 drivers giving me issues in a bit. I have an appointment I must get to at the moment.

The attach file isn't complete. Provide a fresh copy of the file cbs.log.
Attach the file C:\Windows\INF\setupapi.dev.log also.

That's weird. I'll try again.

Since that initial video freeze after the driver updates (AMD Radeon HD 5450 and Realtek High Definition Audio) I haven't had any issues. No freezes today, so it's not near as bad as it once was. The freeze might have happened because I was running the windows experience index again after the driver updates, but I thought that was just fixed so I don't know. I'm not going to run that again until I'm sure that all corruption is fixed just in case, unless you tell me to try running it again.

By the way, I'm not sure if this is useful information or not, but these freezes I have are always accompanied by a buzzing noise. It buzzes for about 3 seconds and then stops, but the computer will remain frozen forever until I turn it off the hard way.

The attached CBS.log is complete and looks clean.
Run the command sfc /scannow again in a elevated commandprompt.
Provide a screenshot of the commandprompt wiindow when completed.

Had to roll back those updates again for now. Last night my computer froze up twice on 2 different sites after looking for some information. One of those sites was Reddit.

Attach the renewed file CBS.log again.

Attach the files C:\Windows\Logs\dism\dism.log and C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log to your next reply.
If the files are to big to upload zip them first and attach the zipped file.
