Please run the following DISM command again, and post the CBS log afterwards to see if new warnings have appeared..
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

I was wondering that too. Do you think we are making progress with it?

I have started doing it myself. I will just copy the logs from cbs.log, then find and replace
find
(w) CBS Watchlist Package Missing 0x80070490
replace with
DeleteValue:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\PackageDetect\

Hi,
I have got to a stage where cbslog keeps reporting the same keys. Farbar cant delete the keys and if I go into the registry to manually delete, I get the message 'unable to delete all specified values'

Hi,

Strange, maybe it might be worth to try an in-place upgrade on his clone, to see whether that will solve the problem

Thanks for the help, I do appreciate the time on it. Will keep the thread updated.

You're welcome. Let us know how it goes and what problems you are still running into in this case....

Hi,
I have got to a stage where the image has been reverse engineered, and I am booting to the windows iso to try a repair.
Is there a way to do the in-place upgrade, but stay on the same OS version (Server 2012 R2)

Hi,

Yes, you can perform an in-place upgrade with the ISO mounted. But make always full system image or a backup of all your important data!

1. Run Setup.exe from the ISO, and click the Install now button.
2. In the next screen select the option: "Go online to install updates now (recommeded).
3. Select the right version (with GUI) and click Next.

4. Next, accept the license terms and click Next.
5. In the next Window, select the option: Upgrade: Install Windows and keep files, settings and applications.
6. The installation process will perform a compatibity check, please read this part carefully.
7. If you agree with the changes, click Next.
8. Follow the further intructions to complete the in-place-upgrade.

Thanks, so I need to boot to the OS, then browse to the iso and run setup? I have tried that, but I get the error: 'Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms'
Have you seen this in the past?

Which ISO have you used, this message means that the installation process fails to validate the installation sources (install.wim or *.esd) of the ISO. Another issue could be that the edition in the EI.CFG file may not match with the product key (PID.txt) of this server. Windows Setup Edition Configuration and Product ID Files (EI.cfg and PID.txt)

Could you please check the following:
1. Mount the ISO and navigate to: \Sources\EI.CFG
2. Open this file in Notepad++ and post the content.
