[SOLVED] ScanNow- Win Resource Protection Found Corrupt Files But Was Unable ...

For now, just try disabling the items with the type 'Context Menu'. Once finished, restart and test your right click context menu speed.

OK starting to test, but you know, right now my problem is left clicking on recycle bin takes almost a minute to open. R clicking seems to work fine.

should I be still disabling those items to test out the left click on recycle bin?

Boy when I enabled this block again, r clicking took forever again! I tried disabling just the carbonite one but that didn't help.

any suggestion of which one I should disable, or should I just test them one by one?

So the recycle bin takes a long time to open?

Do you have any USB hard drives connected?

boy taking a long time to test, especially waiting for the r click to open,

yes. left click r bin takes a minute, no usb hard drives, you mean like a usb stick??

what a hassle, every time I click on Type, the list below is in a different order, so I can't go down the list in a specific order to disable entries. Can I make the order stay the same after selecting Type?

OK, found the culprit regarding the R click issue! Carbonite. I've been having problems with it ever since I got those corrupted files. I was working with a carb Tech, he couldn't figure it out, escalated it up,
and that tech said-
Ok, so there's a few issues I'm seeing. The responses time trying to load different drives is quite significant. This is indicating there's an issue with your operating system accessing your different drives and folders. We're seeing errors that Windows recorded in Event Viewer that are indicating that there is corruption on your C drive. The error is: The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume System OS.

(12:26:25) Rick said to you:
the next issue is that Carbonite could not get all of the information placed onto your hard drive necessary for the reinstallation as it had problems reading the drive. This will lead to Carbonite not backing up properly.

So I saw that carbonite entry in shexview, disabled it, then managed to remove Carb with Revo.

I can R click now but recycle bin still takes a minute to open up. What do we do next? Remember I had two Storage in my C drive and now I only see one, is that a clue??

OK, ready to hopefully finish up :-) I think the only issue left is the recycle bin but I'll let you tell me if all's well.

My two remaining issues are the recycle bin taking so long to open, and I think most importantly, I used to have two 'Storage' in Computer, but now only see one?

Are your storage drives partitions on one large drive or two separate drives?
If separate, try shutting down your computer and leaving it off for a minute, then turning it back on. Let me know if the second storage volume reappears.

Try deleting the $Recycle.bin folder on the C: D: and E: drives.

OK looked for $Recycle Bin folder in C and D, didn't see it anywhere, but when I tried opening D I got this I/0 device error??

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the content of the GSmartControl .zip archive and execute gsmartcontrol.exe; To extract you can right-click your mouse on the GSmartControl.zip file and select Extract.
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, copy and paste their name in your next reply (or take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply);

It appears your Western Digital 2TB drive is having problems.

Please immediately back up any important data on that drive that you can still access.

well, I can't access that drive, so it looks like I'm taking the computer into a shop now,

what do I tell them is wrong? Will they be able to recover anything?

strange, I plug in an external HD to backup, go in to Computer, and I don't see it in there?

Just let them know you have a 2TB storage drive in your computer with pending bad sectors and now you can't access the partitions on it.
They might be able to recover data, it's unpredictable.

I'm not sure why the external drive wouldn't be displayed. Does it spin up when it is connected? Any power or access indicator lights?

Can you tell what's on that storage drive? Are my Documents in there? Reason I ask is I go into C and don't see 'Documents' in there?

yeah there's a light on the ex HD. Maybe my usb is bad, I have two slots though tried both. When I look in Computer it's not there.
