[SOLVED] Server 2008 R2 Updates Fail

Restart Windows in Safe Mode w/networking.

Download Windows Repair (All-in-One) Portable


  • Extract the tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio.zip to c:\Windows\TEMP the zip will extract to a folder called Tweaking.com - Windows Repair
  • Execute the file Repair_Windows.exe from the Tweaking.com - Windows Repair folder, accept the Security warning and the EULA
  • Click the button Jump To Repairs
  • Click the Open Repairs button to access the following screen:

  • Click the box All Repairs to uncheck all the boxes
  • Check only the following boxes:
    • 16 - Repair Windows Updates
  • Check the box Restart/Shutdown System When Finished > Restart System
  • Click the Start Repairs button
  • When the system reboots, attempt the update again.
 
The install went through really quick and I didn't see a result, so I launched it again. When I launched it the second time, it said this is already installed.

I tried to install another after that just to see, KB4516033, and it failed.
 
Sorry. I will not jump ahead. I installed the one you requested and it worked. It asked for a reboot, so I did that as well.
 
I'm not sure where the final fix came from, or if it was a series of different things, but it appears to be up to date now.

I installed about 30 of the updates manually, then before I went to lunch I kicked off the Windows Update. It found another 30 or so updates and installed them with no issues. After a reboot it says that I am now up to date. I really do appreciate all of your help with this, because there is no way I would have figured this out by going through the logs.
