As expected another update is causing this issue, please run the following command and let me know the result.
Code:
wusa /uninstall /KB:4580346

1. Start the
55d04c7d453ca-Command_prompt_icon_%28windows%29.png
Command Prompt as administrator.
  • Open the startmenu and type the command cmd.
  • After you find the Command Prompt, right click on it and select Run as Administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following into the Command Prompt and press enter.
Code:
reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS
2.Right-click on the file
577bf0efb8088-FRST.png
FRST.exe and choose Run as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following (code) into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
Code:
KB4580346
  • When the scan is complete, a message will display that SearchReg.txt is saved in the same folder FRST was started from.
  • Post the logfile SearchReg.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Here's the next fix:

Start the
577bf0efb8088-FRST.png
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool again.

Warning: This script was written specifically for this system. Do not run this script on another system.
  • Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.
  • When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Afterwards try to install the Windows Defender feature again, I suspect it wil fail again, if so please attach the latest CBS logs.

I Just ran the last fixlist, then tried to installed defender role - NO ERROR! :)
Then I removed the role, no error. I re-installed the defender role, no error!

I then ran dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth - found no component store errors.

I ran sfc /scannow - no errors.

I ran Windows Update - no errors.

You fixed my precious terminalserver, it would have been days of work migrating / rebuilding this machine to a new installation.

YEAH, BABY!

Just for your information, and so everybody else can read it in plain text: I took over service/maintenance for this Windows Host, which is a terminal server for 20 people. The previous admin (fell off his bike one day in his 50s and passed away) left this host in this state, probably because he used to run ccleaner and other various crapware cleaning tools all day every day on every. darn. windows. machine.

Hey, internet, and fellow admins: DON'T USE CLEANER TOOLS ON PRODUCTION MACHINES! DON'T DELETE STUFF IN C:\WINDOWS! You will end up with a broken CBS / Update system, or with a machine that'll refuse to boot! Just leave Windows do its thing!
