[SOLVED] Server 2019 - SFC found corrupt files - DISM restorehealth: 0x800f0954

Thanks for letting me know Gary.
And take all the time you need.
I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into this - and I'm bound to donate to this great forum!

OK, another couple of things we need to check ....

  • Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the same location as FRST (must be in same folder or it won't process).
  • NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user. Running it on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
  • Start and run FRST
  • Now press the Fix button once and wait.
  • FRST will process fixlist.txt
  • When finished, it will produce a log fixlog.txt in the same folder/directory as FRST64.exe
  • Please post me the log

Can you please try the following, and see whether you're able to start DoSvc ....

In an elevated Command prompt, enter the following ...

Code:
sc config DoSvc Start= delayed-auto

.... please report the result.

If it fails (and I expect it probably will), please do the following ....

Log into the built in Administrator account .....

In an elevated Command prompt, enter ....

Code:
sc start DoSvC
sc query DoSvc
sc qc DoSvc

..... and report the result (a screen shot will do nicely).

Done - results are attached.

Are you able to clone this server to a test environment. Then we can safely test some things!

Not really something we'd care to do on a live environment.

OK thanks. One of my more experienced colleagues requested this, so I'll get back to you once he's explained to me what he wants you to do.

As you know, we believe your problem is permission related, and what we now think we've established, is that it appears to be machine wide rather than related to a single account. So likely it's either system related, or caused by some 3rd party process that is present in all accounts.

Is it possible for you to let us know how you have SCCM configured ? What restrictions are set etc. Because we believe that's the most likely source for any access problems.

Can you please run the following elevated command .........

Code:
gpresult /V > "%userprofile%\desktop\Gpresult.txt"

.... and post the file ... Gpresult.txt

To the best of my knowledge - SCCM is setup according to best practice.
Clients will check for updates using SCCM - port 8530/8531 - but we do not block access to Microsoft update - if you need to perform an online check.

Can you please run the following elevated command .........

Code:
gpresult /V > "%userprofile%\desktop\Gpresult.txt"

.... and post the file ... Gpresult.txt
GPresult attached.

Did I mention that this server has been upgraded from 2012R2 -> 2019?
Maybe that also could come into play in this apparent permission issue.

Speaking about SCCM.
I had a look at the cloned server - and it appears that the SCCM agent has gone haywire.
Made a thorough removal of the SCCM agent - and re-installed it.

Now the cloned server seems to be able to update.

Let me try this fix on the live server (need to do this outside work hours - 08.00-16.00) - will report back here when fix has been applied

OK, thanks for letting me know. Let's hope you're successful. (y)

Hello Gary.

Happy to report - that after making a thorough removal of the SCCM agent - and then re-installing the SCCM agent again was a huge success.
I am now able to update the server with available updates without any problems.
Even third party updates (using patch my pc in conjuction with SCCM) are showing up and applying nicely.

Thank you for your perserverance and patience through this whole ordeal.

I have decided to donate to this Sysnative forum - patching +400 servers and +1600 clients - I'm sure I will be back sooner or later.
Again - thanks a lot for your help - and take care!

That's good to hear, thanks for letting me know. Yours has been an interesting problem, and I'm glad we were able to help you resolve it.

Thanks for the donation, it is much appreciated.
