[SOLVED] Server 2019 Windows update error (0x80073712)

I am sorry, but the same error still happens.
The update goes to 20% for a good while, then 44-45% for a few minutes, then 100% for a couple of minutes.
Then fails with Error 0x80092004

I have attached the CBS folder.

I need to pick up my son, so I will not be available for the next hour or so.
I really appreciate your help, but please don't waste your Sunday on me, take a break and look at it again, when you have the time.

Thank you.

I really appreciate your help, but please don't waste your Sunday on me, take a break and look at it again, when you have the time.
Please attach a new copy of the COMPONENTS hive, and this is an interesting issue for a lazy Sunday afternoon... ;)

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Here's the next fix.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFixScript.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFixScript.txt file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Afterwards reboot the server and attempt to update. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

Please run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Follow these instructions to remove an update.
  • Open the Start menu of Windows and type the command CMD
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.
Code:
wusa /uninstall /KB:5027222
  • Let me know if it says it was successful or you get the message: The update KB5027222 is not installed on this computer.

Unfortunately it also failed the uninstall.

Edit:
CBS.zip

Well, what do you know :-)
The update is installed, the server is rebooted and up to date.
I am very impressed with your troubleshooting skills, thank you very much for your great help!!!
I have attached the CBS folder for you to see, and there does not seem to be any errors in the CBS log file.

I am going to talk to my CFO to see if it is possible for me to give a donation from my company credit card, otherwise I will definetly give a personal donation.

Can you in rough terms give a description of the problem.
Looking through all the files you gave me, it seemed like missing/corrupt .reg keys and manifest files.

You're welcome. Glad to hear the issue has been resolved and the latest update is installed without any issues.

Can you in rough terms give a description of the problem.
That's quite complicated to explain, but here's a brief summary.

1. The first error had to due with a corrupt Deployments key which was missing all the required values. So I have rebuild this key with the information from the associated key in the Components Based Servicing hive.
2. Also some values for other keys were missing, and some keys referred to a wrong c! mark and Catalog key into the registry.
3. The last error had to due with a corrupt Components key for KB5027222 which was missing the "S256H" and the "Identity" value.
4. For the last component the associated manifest file was also missing.

I am going to talk to my CFO to see if it is possible for me to give a donation from my company credit card, otherwise I will definetly give a personal donation.
Thank you very much for your donation to Sysnative..(y)

P.s.
The latest CBS log looks good, so we can mark this thread as solved...

Thank you very much for your help.
I am glad I found Sysnative, and will be using these forums when troubleshooting in the future.

Merry christmas.
