Please find CBS attached. Looks like DISM RestoreHealth completed successfully for once.

Yes Dism isn't reporting more corrupted files.

Can you post the list of updates that are pending/failing to install?

If I rerun DISM (which I've done 3 times now after your request), it says that it's successfully repaired corruption in the store.
SFC is happy, no problems found.

Try to install only the 2020-10 Security Monthly let me know the result.

On the list of .Net framework updates what was the first one that failed to install? is there more before 2020-01?

The Monthly Security updates for dot net have failed for years, from since 2017 I guess... Only recently with softwaremaniac's help have Server Monthly security updates been succeeding.

I ran the update you requested and captured with ProcMon while it was updating. Hope that helps.

Ran it now, as I suspected we were getting mixed up about which one. It seems to have gone through, its requesting a restart.

ok do that please, now I need to know the most old update to .net framework you can see on the list of failed updates.

Here's a screenshot of the bottom of the list. I've highlighted the last .Net Security update on the list that failed.

Btw, I rebooted and the Security Monthly Quality Rollup update had gone through for Windows Server successfully. I tried the .Net Monthly and it still fails

I went to the Windows Update Catalog and downloaded the 3x .msu updates included in KB4041085 (.Net Security 2017-09) and 2 of the 3 updates fail. KB4040974 and KB4040972 fail and KB4040981 installed successfully

Thanks.

Can you check the folders c:\windows\temp folder and %temp% if there is some log related with kb4040972?

Didn't find anything relating to that update in the temp folders

I even emptied the temp files and reran the update.

Ok, run the update using the MSU file and after failing collect the CBS.log please.

I discovered you can ask the MSU to create a log file. Attached is the log file for the update you asked me to run.

Edit: I discovered the file extension for the log should be .evtx - which opens it in Event Viewer

Hi,

Lets try this:

Install Update using Dism
  1. Please download kb4014510 save the file to c:\windows\temp
  2. change the name of the update file to a smaller name Windows8.1-kb4014510-x64.msu
(keep the extension .msu in the end of the file name in case its visible if not ignore that)
  3. open the Command Prompt as Administrator (Tutorial)
  4. type or Copy & Paste the following commands line by line:

    cd /d c:\windows\temp
    expand Windows8.1-kb4014510-x64.msu -f:* C:\windows\temp
    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\windows\temp\Windows8.1-kb4014510-x64.cab
  5. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)?
  6. Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.

If you receive any other message:
  7. Right-click on the Command Prompt window and click Select All, this will invert all of the colors by selecting the text, now press enter. All of this text is now copied.
  8. Paste (Ctrl+V) it into your next post please.

Note: If DISM fails please attach the CBS.log

Unfortunately it failed at 32.7%.
Code:
An error occurred - Package_for_KB4014510 Error: 0x80073712

Error: 14098

The component store has been corrupted.
CBS attached.
