Rebooted last night and the server didn't come back online, when I went onsite the boot loader couldn't find the device. I've recreated the BCD file and now I get an error CLFS.sys is missing or corrupt. I've done a chkdsk. Attempting to run offline sfc, otherwise I'm going to restore from a backup.

EDIT: SFC won't run due to pending changes. Running another chkdsk. Hesitant to revert changes just to proceed.

Replaced CLFS.sys with the latest version I found in WinSxS besides the one from the backup folder (I backed up the one that was in the drivers folder by renaming it to .bak. The replacement file was much larger +/-351kb vs 51kb). I had to do the same with cng.sys, as it was also corrupt. When I rebooted, the boot went further but eventually blue screened. So I attempted to use the files from the WinSxS\Backup folder instead, but then the original error saying the files were corrupt came back (the files in the backup folder were the same size as the original files).

I put the larger files back, and the blue screen that I get says 0xc000021a - (which could be because of a mismatch due to the files I swopped out?)
I then ran "DISM /image:d: /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions" but it failed with error 1812 and produced a DISM.log which I've attached.
I'm going to restore from the backup so that I can get the server back up and running ASAP, but hopefully my previous troubleshooting can give you some insight into what happened.

I eventually got the server to boot. I got an error when trying to restore from the backup, so I attempted one last time to boot into windows and I happened to get in with Safe Mode with Command Prompt (although, I thought I had tried that option previously without success). I ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth and then afterwards /RestoreHealth. Then rebooted into normal mode, and it managed to boot! I'm currently running an SFC /scannow - (which didn't moan about pending actions). I'll follow that with a DISM scanhealth and restorehealth and send you a CBS.

Yikes, I am so sorry this happened. I've been looking at this and am still trying to figure out exactly what caused it but do believe it has something to do with compressed vs. uncompressed files. First off, very good job on getting the server back up. I'd like to take a look at your most recent COMPONENTS hive.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to SendSpace and just provide the link here.
