[SOLVED] SFCFix cannot repair corrupt files_Why?

Oh, sounds like you may have remnants of a virus. This likely won't bring back your network connection but I can help you with that once we are done.

Do this again please.
Step#1 - Re-Run System Update Readiness Tool (SUR)
1. Download and run the following file.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.
4. Please post the contents of the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

Here is the reportView attachment CheckSUR-3.txt

That's what I suspected. The previous step still isn't running properly. At this point why don't you post a thread in our Security forum. In the subject put Windows Update - 13906 (For BrianDrab) and I'll assist you as soon as I get it. In the body of the post reference the link to this topic.

Here are instructions for your post over in the Security forum.

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your USB key from your good computer.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Plug the USB key in your computer having issues and run this program. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the USB key)
6. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated.
7. Please post the contents of both of these logs over in the Security Forum.

We'll restore your internet connection and then fix the corruption that you have left.

Hi Maxine -

It appears you used the incorrect script. This can easily happen when we have a bunch of files on the desktop. Can you delete all the SFCFix.txt, SFCFix.zip, and SFCScript.txt files that may be on your desktop? Once they are deleted please do the following. Thank you.

Unfortunately that was still the old file that was used. We want to use the file that is attached to this post.

Can you try again? Make certain to delete the existing SFCFix.zip off of the desktop and replace it with this one.

Good news. You are good to go. The only files that are showing as corrupt are a bug in a recent update from Microsoft. Link and details below. No need to do anything.

The two files are marked as static files in the update. When an advanced user runs the System File Checker Tool (sfc.exe), the files are unintentionally flagged as corrupted. There is no impact or corruption on a device that is running this update, and this issue will be fixed in a later service update.

Do you have the Microsoft Office 2010 install media? Are you able to completely uninstall the software and then re-install it?

Do you have the Microsoft Office 2010 install media? Are you able to completely uninstall the software and then re-install it?

Brian:
I finally got the chance to remove the office 2010 and installed office 2013 and I have the same issue. I could not locate the 2010 disc and that is why i resorted to office 2013. Programs starts and then closes it and tells me there is a problem with word so it has to close.

Please try to run the Microsoft FixIt from the following link.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/921541

I ran the Fixit and it said I did not have a 2003 or later program installed. However, I installed the 2013 version of word and it told me it was complete and ready to do. I can see the program in the control panel. I uninstalled and reinstalled twice and got the same prompt about not having the software installed. I am at my wits end.
