Hi Aura ,firstly i must apologize in advance . I ran the above and it showed that KB8286826 is ALREADY INSTALLED on this computer which is of course contrary to my previous advice to you !. I then ran your earlier advice again it identified the update in question and UNINSTALLED it ..... I suspect that I originally entered 286826(missing the addition 6 ).

I can only say sorry again for wasting your time and effort .

Would you like me to reboot and try to install the 2 remaining updates ?

Regards from a foolish Doug

Yes please, try to install the 2 remaining updates. If they fail, upload the CBS.log and and WindowsUpdate.log files once again please.

Very pleased to advise that KB3040272 installed successfully . Now left with only KB3077715 to resolve .

I will start the process of getting the logs you require .... as this is a slow procee i will sign out and sign back in when they are ready ... thanks Doug

Hi Aura ,I have included a CBS old log just in case it is needed . I did as requested and computer said file was in use as you suggested . I restarted computer and applied the "ren /windir% etc "code by copy and paste and then did manual download ..... after a considerable time the update failed to install. I thought i may have not waited long enough for the "ren etc "code to work as it seemed to be over in the blink of an eye . I restarted and tried process again but when I applied the " ren etc " code again I got the message that " a duplicate file name exists or the file cannot be found " ...... it obviously worked the first time.

Therefore i have included both the CBS.log file and the CBS old.log file .

i have provided the above explain why you have received both CBS log files .... hope I have not confused

regards Doug

Hi Aura, just an update . The last batch of 12 Updates all installed OK except for KB 3112148 which appears to be a replacement for the obstinate KB 3077715 . I downloaded KB 3112148 manually from the Microsoft Download site and did a manual install without success . I thought i should inform you of this latest development .Thanks , Doug

Hi Aura , no need to apologize for " late " reply , I am most grateful for the amount of your time that you have given to my problem ... and you do after all have a life to lead .
Yes,KB 3112148 is the only one left to resolve .I did try to install from your link however it failed to install . I had earlier done a "check for updates" which failed and said error 80244019 (8024200 d ) which said to use SURT (KB 947821 ) , I started SURT but then thought this might put the work you have done at risk, so I cancelled the install .... hope this has no hindered
Aura , if you reach a point where you have more pressing issues and if KB 3112148 is not critical to my computer I can simply " hide " it until some future time . I am certainly happy to continue to a complete resolution BUT I am mindful of using your time with me when others may have more pressing/urgent problems !

Kind Regards Doug
