This fixed the files listed in the SFCFix.zip. SFC still reports that it found corrupt files and was unable to fix them, but I don't see what might have gone wrong. CBS.zip is attached.

The log looks good. I think you are good to go. Maybe run SFC /Scannow one more time to see if it says that there are no integrity violations. I see nothing in the logs that would indicate otherwise.

Ok. I ran it again, but the log looks the same and it still reports that it found corruptions. I'm still encountering a number of issues, but they might be caused by other things.

I can't overstate how much I appreciate the help. Thank you!

No problem on the assistance. Let's run the DISM one more time and provide log so I can ensure it's clean. Also please let me know what issues you are having.

Thanks.

The CBS.zip is attached (this last DISM was started at 2015-12-12 19:28). It says it identified 4 corruptions, but it ignores the as 'not repairble'.

Here are a few of the problems I'm still running into:
1) PC Settings, Windows Store, and other tiles won't open. If I click on the tile, the animation plays, but it immediately closes and returns back to the desktop. I've looked around for what could be going on, and it seems like there may be problems with the Windows Store or Appx. The symptoms look like those described here: Store - Re-register in Windows 8 and 8.1 . However, when I tried the powershell fix, it says that the Add-AppxPackage is corrupt, and returned error code 0x80073cfe and -1206.

2) At the login screen, I get an error message window saying "An unknown error has detected!" [sic]. Most everything I can find online about it suggests I should run DISM/SFC.

3) I'm unable to install some updated drivers. For example, the latest NVIDIA Geforce drivers install, but Geforce Experience install fails. Afterwards, I get a missing driver error nvspcap64.dll. I've also uninstalled a bunch of other Lenovo software, but when trying to reinstall some, the installers fail for various reasons.

Is it your intention to take advantage of the free upgrade to Windows 10?

Unfortunately, I didn't have the disk space required to do this (also, given the problems with Win8, I'm not very eager to move to Win10).

I finally fixed this by backing up all my files, and reinstalling Windows from a fresh image.

Thank you for all the help! It was enough to get my important files out of the backup image.

No problem. Windows 10 is much improved over 8. If you were going to do a clean install I would have probably suggested Windows 10 but that's your choice. I'm glad you are back up and running. Thanks for letting me know.
