Not to worry. You weren't being graded on your l33t sp34k. :)
Oh...the funny part is that I cared more about the l33t than I did about the English I was writing...which was pretty much drivel!

This thread reminds me of one on the registry at TSF where John asked for some younger help understanding abbreviations and faces. :lolg:
What does this mean (at end of a post)?
.\
Are you sure it isn't a typo? Backslash is close to the enter button.
I have never seen it before.
I think he's sticking out his tongue. Maybe s/he likes you
I guess I'll never understand this stuff.
It's incredible to me to realize that I can spend more time trying to figure *whatever* that thing is than on the thread content itself!
I should just reply back with the 3 capital letters most favored by my kids in text replies. . .
WT:lol:
Haha, I know what you mean
It also could have ment this:
:\ as in a sad face.

Sounds more likely.

Same thought...
@John, perhaps he wants to just copy you mister ' at the end of all my posts
If I get something like this, I ask my grandkids :)
What does +1 mean? I see that a lot

Depends on context. Usually if you have the following as a post:
+1I think LOLSPEAK is cool
The user posting +1 is saying "I agree."
cool . .
Since I noticed alot of you don't understand all text lingo here is a great site to use when you don't know for example LOL means.

Maybe the NSA can help!
I use shift+enter as an old habit to go to a new line when I type anything (Enter usually produced unwanted results) so with the fingers positioned like that and in a rush I can easily type /. or ./ right after or before the new line as he did.

Some good programming skills eh? (LOLCODE - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
LOLCODE, wow, that's a first for me. Hilarious.

Whitespace:
Most modern programming languages do not consider white space characters (spaces, tabs and newlines) syntax, ignoring them, as if they weren’t there. We consider this to be a gross injustice to these perfectly friendly members of the character set. Should they be ignored, just because they are invisible? Whitespace is a language that seeks to redress the balance. Any non whitespace characters are ignored; only spaces, tabs and newlines are considered syntax.
I can't find it off hand, but somewhere there is a source file which compiles into three different lanauges. Completely different programs, same source file.
One program was made from the whitespace, and the other two were plainly written, but utilised different commenting structures, so that the other's sourcecode appeared as a comment to the first. Amazing!
EDIT: The main problem with LOLCode is that it is so limited. As soon as you try to use it, huge swathes of normal code appears, and the effect is completely and utterly ruined. At least most of the others are entirely rediculous!
I wasn't even aware of any of these languages, thanks for pointing em out. I do know that LOLCODE at least is garnering attention from Microsoft to create a language teaching curriculum out of it. That'd definitely be a peculiar thing to see.
