No worries. A corruption was fixed. Please try Windows Update again. If it fails, please provide the following two current logs. Thank you.

C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

I'd like to get a copy of your COMPONENTS hive. Please do the following.

1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the file named COMPONENTS.
2. Copy this file to your desktop. Note: If you get an error about the file being in-use, simply reboot your machine and try again.
3. Zip up this file, upload to SendSpace and just provide the link in your next post.

Thank you.

Unfortunately at this point the only thing we can recommend is a repair install. A repair install will keep your programs and data and may fix your issue. You mentioned you did a refresh install (not certain exactly what you meant here) but I'm suspecting it wasn't a repair install. Info on how to do that is below. Please review and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

Did a repair install and it seems to have fixed it! Reserved my bloody windows 10 upgrade! What a long journey!

Thanks to you both for all the help you gave me!

It's been emotional.
