The cleanup-image option unknown error is gone!!! :) Got a new error but at least the DISM command ran! I'm guessing you'll ask for screenshot and dism.log so I've attached them, just in case.

I should have done some basic research before posting... turns out 0x8024402c can be caused by internet problems during the DISM process. The computer with the problem is not online... re-connected internet and will run DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth again.

Great. Please attach the CBS log as well after running DISM again with active internet connection..

  • Click the Start button and in the search box, type CMD
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.
    Code:
    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  • This command will create cbs.txt on your Desktop. Zip this file and attach the zipped cbs.txt to your next post.

Ran DISM - it got to 100% and hung at that point for roughly 9 hours. I clicked to restart and during restart, windows stated "Getting Windows Ready Don't turn off your computer". I grabbed a copy of DISM.log and CBS.log before I clicked restart.

When I returned to the computer this morning, I checked the update history, KB134661 attempted to install and failed with 0x80240034.

I then ran DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth. It got to 100% and failed with error 0x8000ffff "DISM Failed. No operation was performed".

Attached is a screenshot of the failed DISM command. Also a copy of DISM.log and CBS.log both before restarting and after restarting and running DISM again.

Thank you so much!!

When I returned to the computer this morning, I checked the update history, KB134661 attempted to install and failed with 0x80240034.
Could you please post a screenshot of the update history?

It automatically re-started to attempt to install updates... after it finishes (and fails) I will edit this post with the screenshot. (I think it's attempting an update to 21H2 - might take a while)

The automatic update to 21H2 actually SUCCEEDED!! With this update, the old windows update history is gone. I ran DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and sfc /scannow. Both completed successfully. (I've attached screenshots for sake of completeness). Are we done at this point?
