[SOLVED] W8.1 sfc found corrupt fies but was unable to fix some

Did you put in the actual path to the .msu file? Replaceing c:\full\path\to with the actual path? I wasn't very clear on that so I appologize.

wusa "C:\full\path\to\Update.msu"

Oh my gosh! *facepalm* How embarrassing. Can't believe I did that. Sorry. I was in hurry to get to an appt and wasn't thnking straight.

The path would be as follow, right? The file is located on the desktop of user snoe.

wusa "C:\Users\snoe\Desktop\Windows8.1-KB3173424-x64.msu"

I entered that into Admin command prompt and prssed Enter. Doing the same thing... searching....

Ugh! I did overlook disabling WU's. That's what happens when you are trying to multi task while on the run out the door.

After disabling WU's as your requested in Post 20, I clicked on the KB3173424 file and it found that update to be installed already. I then downloaded KB3172614 and it installed just fine and asked for a reboot, which I did. After Windows did a little configuring and I navigated to the desktop, I went into the Control Panel to enable WU's and I no sooner got back to the WU UI that it began checking for updates. Several were found and are ready to be installed. I'll do just that and once no more are found I will come back to provide you with an update on how things went.

Thank you for you patience and all the help you gave.

Hi Brian,

You are amazing! Thank you for all the help. WU's is working fine now so I will be giving the laptop back to my son in law.

Donna :)

Great news. Just make sure to turn back on Windows Update. We had it set as follows.
Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Update > Change settings > "Never check for updates"

You likely want to set it back so it checks for updates automatically.

I made sure to turn WU's back on and as soon I did, I went back to the main WU window, it began checking for updates before I could even click on the Check for updates button. Several were found, downloaded and installed without any errors at all.

Thanks again Brian, I appreciate your help. :)
