Try deleting the key now: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Schedule\TaskCache\Tree\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting and rebooting, then updating.

Create a System Restore Point and try deleting that key. Something is going on here.

Okay, then don't. There is something going on in the registry withe the Windows Error Reporting Task. We just have to figure out what.
HiGo here and browse through the guids until you find one that says Windows Error Reporting. When you do, please export it.
