[SOLVED] Win 7 SP1 x64 failing Win 10 MCT Upgrade with error 0x8009000F - 0x90002

Great, was able to remotely get into safe mode, running the tool now, will update with results later.

OK, please re-install Microsoft Security Essentials so there is an AV on the machine. This is what I was afraid of. I know of only three other options (none of which is guaranteed to work)

1. Uninstall SP1 and then attempt the upgrade
2. Do a physical to virtual conversion of the machine and send to me so I can analyze offline
3. Do a repair install using a Windows 7 with SP DVD
4. Wipe and reload.

I have a question which I will send to you in a PM.

Thanks for the PM. Please do the following.

View Volume Info

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    DiskPart
    list volume

At this point you will see information similar to the following. For each volume listed can you tell me what is listed in the Fs column?

Code:
Volume ### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info
---------- --- ----------- ----- ---------- ------- --------- --------
Volume 0 D DVD-ROM 0 B No Media
Volume 1 E DVD-ROM 0 B No Media
Volume 2 System Rese NTFS Partition 100 MB Healthy System
Volume 3 C NTFS Partition 79 GB Healthy Boot

I see you responded via PM before my post and already have the answer. Nice job. Can you try doing the VMWare conversion but exclude the HP_Tools volume which is FAT32? Volume Shadow copies won't work with this volume. Thanks.

Code:
DISKPART> list volume
Volume ### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info
  ---------- --- ----------- ----- ---------- ------- --------- --------
  Volume 0 E DVD-ROM 0 B No Media
Volume 1 SYSTEM NTFS Partition 199 MB Healthy System
Volume 2 C NTFS Partition 280 GB Healthy Boot
Volume 3 D RECOVERY NTFS Partition 17 GB Healthy
  Volume 4 HP_TOOLS FAT32 Partition 103 MB Healthy

I was successfully able to upgrade your machine (virtually at least) to Windows 10. So I have a plan. Let me know when you are ready. I'll post some initial instructions in a subsequent post.

Download Windows 10 ISO to your Desktop

1. Go here and click Capture.JPG
2. Save the MediaCreationTool.exe to your desktop.
3. Open the MediaCreationTool.exe and Accept any licensing terms if they appear.
4. Choose "Create installation media for another PC" and click Next.
5. Click next on the "Select language, architecture, and edition" screen as well.
6. Select ISO file and click next.
7. Save the Windows.iso file to your desktop.

Let me know when this is complete.

Thanks.

Yes I followed your steps above, after 7 the download began and I could see the % moving along. I didn't watch the whole process but found that error when I returned to check the progress.

I think your issue is of an unreliable internet connection. Do you have the ability to save this ISO file from somewhere else? You can download the ISO on to a USB drive and then transfer it to this machine.

Hi I have the ISO downloaded from another PC, once it's copied to the laptop can I run it directly or do I need to burn it to DVD first?
