I'm more and more suspicious of the drive. Does the drive have its manufacturer's utility?

The drive is an EVO 850, so have installed Samsung Magician, which recons a health of good and an original genuine samsung drive. It isn't able to do a diagnostic scan as it is not supoprted for that model apparently. AHCI mode was not activated, but it has now activated it.

Let's see if uninstalling AVG and McAfee Web Advisor makes a difference.
