Hi,

Upload your COMPONENTS hive.
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Export SBS (SideBySide) hive
  • Click on the Start button and type regedit
  • When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.
    Code:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide
  • Once selected, click File > Export....
  • Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (*.*).

  • Attach the .ZIP file to your next post.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Hi,

What is the latest error reported by Windows update? Please post also a screenshot of the update history from the same window into Settings.

Hi,

This is a very odd issue, but please do the following.

Download the
577bf0efb8088-FRST.png
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

Download the 64 bit version: - Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Link
  • Open the startmenu and type the command cmd.
  • After you find the Command Prompt, right click on it and select Run as Administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following into the Command Prompt and press enter.
Code:
reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS
Right-click on the file FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator.
  • Copy and paste the following (code) into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
Code:
KB5031455
  • When the scan is complete, a message will display that SearchReg.txt is saved in the same folder FRST was started from.
  • Post the logfile SearchReg.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Ok I did. Should I have rebooted in between?
C:\Windows\System32>reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS
The operation completed successfully.

C:\Windows\System32>

and then the txt file is attached. Thank you!

Hmm this update is not installed and there are no any remnants either! So it's very odd and unclear why the latest CBS reports a TiWorker crash after a number of the above issues for this update.

However, a possible cause is that the datastore and download cache are out of sync. So please do the following first, reboot the system and attempt to update again.

Open an elevated prompt and run the following commands.
Code:
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
ren %SystemRoot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits

I followed those steps and still got an error on update, but something changed. The error I circled in the screenshot below is different than the error from before.
Should I try the SFC Scan, SURT/DISM again?

Thanks

Please post the latest CBS logs first.

Upload a copy of the CBS folder
  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
  • Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

Hi,

Is this system still connected to an WSUS server?

No I don't have a WSUS server and I don't know how that got there. Maybe that explains why I couldn't get DISM to work until you started guiding me?

I suppose I can try to remove it. I don't have any directory like that on my D: drive.

Hi,

Please do the following to get more information.

Download the
577bf0efb8088-FRST.png
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

Download the 64 bit version: - Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Link
  • Note: Your antivirus program may report FRST incorrectly as an infection. If so, disable the real-time protection when downloading and running FRST.
  • Right-click to run the tool as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
  • Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Hi,

Is this a legal version of Windows 11, this because I see traces of an KMS toolkit.

Open an elevated command prompt and run the following command.
Code:
slmgr /dli
Take a screenshot of this window and post it into your next reply.
