[SOLVED] Win7 Pro SP1 x64, KB2952664 & KB4284826 failed to install, error 80073701

Install Update using Dism
  1. Please download KB4025341 http://download.windowsupdate.com/d..._e2518cc83b86902d20302f114a7ebe4249efbe9c.msu save the file to c:\windows\temp
  2. change the name of the update file to a smaller name windows6.1-KB4025341-x64.msu
    (keep the extension .msu in the end of the file name in case its visible if not ignore that)
  3. open the Command Prompt as Administrator (Tutorial)
  4. type or Copy & Paste the following commands line by line:

    cd /d c:\windows\temp
    expand windows6.1-KB4025341-x64.msu -f:* C:\windows\temp
    DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\windows\temp\windows6.1-KB4025341-x64.cab
  5. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
    Restart Windows to complete this operation.
    Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)?
  6. Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.

    If you receive any other message:
  7. Right-click on the Command Prompt window and click Select All, this will invert all of the colours by selecting the text, now press enter. All of this text is now copied.
  8. Paste (Ctrl+V) it into your next post please.

Hi,

The next on the list is a tricky one! there are many different versions and we need to install the correct one.

- Download KB2952664 http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._26f88f9a9d23277298908d44748b8338f88f49b2.cab and save it to c:\Windows\temp
- rename the cab file to windows6.1-kb2952664-v23.2-x64.cab
- install the cab DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:C:\windows\temp\windows6.1-kb2952664-v23.2-x64.cab

Let me know if it works without errors. Don't try to install the other update yet.

  • Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2984976)

Try to install the KB2984976 if it fails upload the CBS.log please.
