[SOLVED] [Win7 x64] Can't install SP1 - Unable to locate repair files: PA*~1.mum and PA*~1.cat

No problem at all. I'm extremely happy it worked out for you.

Yes I would turn on Windows Updates and let it do it's thing. It's very important to keep the OS patched.

I would download and install the convenience rollup which includes a ton of the post SP1 updates.

Once that is done I would continue to go to Windows Update and installing updates until you are current.

Take care and thanks for the kind words.

Hi Brian,

One last thing... Upon powering up my laptop today (first time after SP1 installed successfully - yay!) , I noticed very slow response and checked task manager. I found svchost.exe processes using up close to 97% of my memory with netsvcs using the most. This occurred for about an hour and then it calmed down and I now have 50% of my memory to use. Any suggestions why this occurred in the first place? I almost thought it wouldn't stop.

Thanks!

Brian, I think it worked after installing the July 2016 updates KB3172605. Prior to installing the KB3125574 roll-up, I installed KB3020369 because I was receiving the message "The update is not applicable to your system". I will look into possibly installing an additional 4GB of memory now that SP1 is working!

Thanks again!!!
