[SOLVED] Win7 x64 IE11 Error code 9C59

Thanks.

Try uninstalling again. Let me know the results.

To uninstall Internet Explorer 9

  • Click the Start button, type Programs and Features in the search box, and then click View installed updates in the left pane.
  • Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.
  • Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.
  • Click Restart now to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer 9.

A repair install would likely be the quickest resolution for this particular error. However if for some reason we can't do that then we can try some other things.

In process, didn't really want to do a repair install but decided to go
for it. Any chance you can assist with the BCD entries so the HP Repair
PE is available afterwards? Thanks for all your assistance irrespective of the outcome, I appreciate it.

I wouldn't think the BCD entries would get changed. If they do I can attempt to assist you and if we can't fix it then we may need to get our Windows 7 experts involved. Let's make a backup of the BCD first. Please do the following.

BCD Backup

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter

    bcdedit /export C:\SAVEDBCD
  4. You should get a message that "The operation completed successfully."

Then go ahead and follow the repair instructions.

Ah, well... As I posted in #30 I was already in process, so it's too late to do the backup... I'll let you know if I need the help with the BCD once I finally get Windows Updates to do anything other than "Checking for Updates" (18 hours and counting...)

It went ok, still didn't get the windows updates working with the repair install. Had to do a bunch of other stuff to get it working. I don't even remember all of it but suffice it to say I did get all the updates finally...

Strangely enough I had to run sfc and SURT to repair corruptions after the repair... WTF?

Anyway, thanks for the followup.
