[SOLVED] [Win7Pro x64] Corrupt update files - Can't install SP1

OK, please do the following. It's a little different search criteria this time.

FRST Registry Search
1. Click your Start button and choose Control Panel.
2. In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
3. Select the Programs group.
4. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Windows Features dialog. Wait until this dialog populates with information.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps.
5. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
6. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
7. Copy and paste 6.1.1.17105 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.

8. When the scan is complete a notepad window will open with the results. Please copy and paste the contents in your next reply. If for some reason notepad doesn't open the file should be
saved on your desktop named Search.txt.
9. You may close any remaining open windows now.

OK, this time check for updates. Don't use any ISO or DVD to do the install. When you check for updates it should show SP1 as one of the items to install. What size does it show?

Update type: Important


Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is a recommended collection of updates and improvements to Windows that are combined into a single installable update. The service pack can help make your computer safer and more reliable. A typical installation will take about 30 minutes to complete, and you will have to restart your computer about halfway through the process.
 
OK, go ahead and attempt the install through Windows Update. Don't use the ISO in this case. Provide the CBS.log if it fails.
 
Can you please do the following again?

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Attempt the upgrade just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as the upgrade fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log.
 
I'm not surprised. Do you know approximately when it fails? For example does it usually take 10 minutes before it fails? If so you could start the procmon trace at 9 minutes in and then stop it when it fails to keep the size down. The important thing is that the capture is running before the error comes up that the upgrade fails.
