12. Once the fixes are complete you will be prompted to restart your machine. Answer Yes.

Hello,
I just ran the utility as instructed. Completed the repairs twice and then tried my Windows Update. However, I still end up with the Restart Loop, or error code 8024D00E, after deleting the RebootRequired registry key using the script provided. Any ideas?

Please advise if you need any log file.

I followed the instructions for the Clean Boot environment but it did not correct the issues. I have attached the two log files within the same .zip for further review. Thanks

Please also do the following.

FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
2. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
3. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
4. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

The system needed a reboot.

I'm not sure what happened there. But maybe I figured that running the update on safe mode would help make it work. Rest assured, I've tried it every which way. That was just a hunch to try at the time and I'm using normal startup still to no avail...

I just tried it again. Unfortunately, it still gives the same error code. I should clarify that I only went into safe mode to give it another try, after it failed a few times beforehand in regular bootup.

Please try the following.

Please try the following. If you don't have your Windows 7 DVD, please let me know.

Revert Pending Changes
1. Boot into the Windows RE mode: How to use the Windows 7 System Recovery Environment Command Prompt
2. Once the command Window is displayed please follow the below steps.
3. Type notepad into the command prompt and hit enter.
4. Click the File menu in notepad and choose Open. Click on Computer on the left hand side so that you see all the drive letters. You sill see Boot (X:) and likely others. Look for the drive letter that is associated to Local Disk.
5. Once you've identified the driver letter you may cancel out of this screen and close notepad.
6. Now type the following into the Command Prompt replacing C (shown in red) with the drive letter you identified in bullet#4. Note, there is a space after C:\ as well as before the last forward slash.
DISM /Image:C:\ /Cleanup-Image /RevertPendingActions

7. If all goes well you will see the following as the last few lines. Please let me know if you don't.
Code:
Reverting pending actions from the image...
The operation completed. Any revert of pending actions will be attempted after reboot.
The operation completed successfully.

Hi Brian,
I found my original Win7 CD and did as you directed. Sorry it took a while to go out hunting for it, in my disorganized mess.

Anywho, I wrote down what came up in my Command prompt shortly after, please see below:

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 6.1.7601.17514

Image Version: 6.1.7601.18489

The scratch directory size might be insufficient to perform this operation. This can cause unexpected behavior.
Use the /ScratchDir option to point to a folder with sufficient scratch space. The recommended size is at least 1024 MB.

Reverting pending actions from the image...
The operation completed. Any revert of pending actions will be attempted after reboot.
The operation completed successfully.

After, I tried to install the Update Agent (no go) and tried Windows Update once more, and the reboot issue is still looping....:confused2:
