Upon reviewing the Components hive again, it appears that there are many missing keys.

The quickest solution may be to perform an in-place upgrade (repair install), then use the convenience roll-up and latest cumulative update to get the system up to date.

To perform a repair installation of Windows 7, follow these steps:

  1. Close all the running applications.
  2. Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD in the computer's DVD drive.
  3. In the Setup window, click Install Now.

Note If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps:
    • Click Start, and then type D:\setup.exe in the Start Search box. (if your DVD has a letter other than D, use that instead)
    • In the Programs list, click Setup.exe.
    • In the Setup window, click Install Now.
  4. Type the CD key if you are prompted to do this.
  5. Select the operating system in "Install Windows" page you want to Upgrade.
  6. Click Yes to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms.
  7. On the Which type of installation do you want? screen, click Upgrade.
  8. When the installation is complete, restart your computer.

Let me know if this produces an error message.

Can this procedure result in the loss of data or software installed?

The in-place upgrade is non destructive, your programs and data should remain the same.
As always when making changes to the system, be sure you have a good recent backup of any important documents and files - any interruption to power etc. during the process could cause data loss.

Sorry for the delay, as soon as I make a full backup of the pc I try it.
