Step#1 - FRST Scan
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.

All four programs were uninstalled. While uninstalling Extended Update, a prompt came up that said (translated from french) : An error occured while trying to uninstall Extended Update. This element may already be uninstalled. Do you want to remove Extended Update from the programs list?. ---> I clicked Yes

You will need to do a CleanBoot again and then retry updates to see if any of the programs you have removed was causing the issues.

After a clean boot, updates KB3181988 andKB3110329 are still not installing.

In windows update, I searched for new updates (Windows found 5 of them). Then I installed them. 3 updates were installed properly and the problematic 2 others were not installed. Under the ''Updates were installed'' message inside Windows update, the following message appeared (roughly translated) : Windows cannot update important files and services when the system is using them. Save all open files, and reboot the computer.

As far as I know, the disks of this computer are not encrypted. Is there a precise way to find that?

  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put tags around the log to break up the text.

We had this problem for a while and we had no clue what to do. What was the problem?
 
The only thing that changed compared to before solving this problem, is that now when I listen to music with headphones, there is practically no bass. Is that related to the audio driver we modified/reinstalled?

Our fixes shouldn't have caused the issues you describe. I would first suggest that you go to the manufacturer's website of your computer and download/install the most recent audio drivers. This may fix your issue. If this doesn't I suggest you post an inqury in our Windows 7 forum as the experts there have more knowledge on hardware/software than many of us in the Windows Update forum. Our focus is on Windows Update/Servicing issues.
