Re: sfc /scannow Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operatio

Please do folllowing.

Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Leave this running while you perform the next steps.
2. Run sfc /scannow just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as sfc fails You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and attach the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log.

1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
2. Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
3. Press the Fix button.
4. The tool will now process fixlist.txt.
5. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
6. When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
7. Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Re: sfc /scannow Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operatio

Great work Peter, sfc scannow completed and fixed corrupted files!
It seems that I have another problem though in startup I get Event ID 46 Crash dump initialization failed! volmgr. If we can fix this all will be perfect.
Thank you.

Check your settings mentioned here. Follow the instructions at "1.2 – How do I configure my dump file settings?".

Re: sfc /scannow Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operatio

I have repeatedly tried many combinations in these options and tried enabling/disabling the paging file, expanding/reducing, changing partitions but I always get this error which appeared just recently. It seems that something is wrong. I would appreciate your help please if possible. Should I start a new thread?

Re: sfc /scannow Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operatio

I added my username in permissions in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory management and took full control and this seemed that fixed it. Also I excluded pagefile.sys in ESET Smart Security in Antivirus Exclusions just to be sure and safe. Wasn't the problem that you fixed with sfc about registry permissions? I saw the script you sent, it had something to do with registry permissions. Thank you very much PeterJ, I will donate to your site in appreciation for your help which is greatly appreciated. Please continue your great work in helping people. Thanks again! :thumbsup2:
