WIN7X64: KB4103718 fails to install result code 80070005

AI Suite is ASUS and has the drivers for USB3 and various other chipset drivers. . .

Corsair Link is for the motherboard fan controller "chip heat". . .

Based that these have nothing to do with Microsoft software I am really not convinced these two suits should be uninstalled.

Can you give me some context why you think these important subsystems should be removed as I really uncomfortable removing them. . . what is your thought process here?

Sure! 80070005 code means access denied, so my first suspicion was your AV blocking it, so I've asked you to uninstall it, and create a test account. When that didn't do the trick, I've requested FRST logs and these two are the only suspects I have, because people have had issues with them in the past.

If that doesn't do the trick, we'll go with sth else.

Really appreciate the explanation, thank you!

Removed both Corsair Link and AI Suite, restarted and tried windows update and it failed in the same way at 12%.

Noticing there was an outstanding ASUS Bios patch, I upgraded this and retried without success.

Have reinstalled (newer versions) of Corsair Link and AI Suite III. . . still nothing.

1. Download attached file and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
2. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
3. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
4. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.
5. Your computer will automatically reboot after the fix!

All I can think of that is in addition is:-

1). Joy Stick
2). Canon Flatbed scanner
3). Logitech C970 Webcam
4). USB3 10-Port Hub

Disconnected everything apart from a monitor, network cable and a hard wired keyboard.

re-ran windows update. . . failed at 12% after restart (No change)
