[SOLVED] Windows 10 Update Error

This is what the USB Drive looks like AFTER it writes the image. Last things i tried were, new image again, turning off Fast Boot, getting into Windows Startup Repair. Still no luck...

This looks good, with this USB-stick you must be able to boot from. I have just booted a machine from a USB-stick to run Memtest!

Please post the system specs of your hardware to look at BIOS/UEFI settings how you can boot from a USB-Stick!

Please reseat the RAM module in this laptop and then run Memtest again. Although I don't think this will solve the problem, but we can try this first.

You're using two RAM modules of 8 GB, so I would also suggest to run Memtest with each module separately.

No, you'll need to run Memtest with each module in Slot 1 when the other one is removed.

Hi,

Glad to hear only one RAM module is damaged, so I would suggest to replace the other one if you prefer to use 16 GB of memory.

But before doing so I would also suggest to perform an in-place-upgrade (repair install) to see if this system is running stable with this 8 GB module only.

Windows 10 Repair Install
This will reinstall and update the operating system and fix any corruptions, without removing any file or program. But make always a backup of all your important data!
  • Go to this Microsoft page and under the title Create Windows 10 installation media press on Download tool now.
  • Save the tool on your Desktop and double click to run it.
  • On the License terms page, if you accept the license terms, select Accept.
  • On the What do you want to do page, select Create installation media (USB....) and then select Next.
  • Choose the ISO file option. Once the download is complete, right click the ISO and select the option Mount.
  • Open the Windows File Explorer and open mounted ISO, and run the setup.exe file.
  • Follow the instructions and click on the option Change what to keep.
  • Select the option Keep personal files and apps and click next.
  • Windows Setup will now start the in-place upgrade installation to repair Windows.
