[SOLVED] Windows 2016 - Unable to update, DISM/SFC errors

If you believe this isn't going to be feasible then I may have to look at rebuilding the server.
I've just written a small program tonight to check how many deployment keys are corrupted since the CBS log doesn't always give all the keys at once. Unfortunately, there is 5269 deployment keys with no data. It would be an near impossible task to repair all those keys. However, since the COMPONENTS hive is severely corrupted, then I would strongly suggest checking the disk health and the RAM of the server to ensure that neither of them are malfunctioning otherwise this problem will repeat itself.

Could you please run MemTest86 for at least 8 passes (will require two runs of 4 passes) - Test RAM with PassMark MemTest86

Hi,

Thank you for this.

I believe the corruption to be caused by outdated backup software (Backup assist) which had issues merging checkpoints back in to the .vhdx file.

The Hyper-V host storage and memory check out as fine.

Thank you again for all your help on this, it's greatly appreciated!

Thanks for letting me know, that doesn't surprise me to be honest, even Microsoft have mentioned that some backup programs can cause file corruption to occur. I've even seen third-party disk de-fragmentation software corrupt an entire COMPONENTS hive before.
