[SOLVED] Windows 2016 Update Error 0x800703f1

Can you please post me a copy of your COMPONENTS hive ...

  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
  • Please copy this file to your desktop.
  • Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
  • The file will likely be too large to upload here, if so please upload to a file sharing service.
  • Examples of services to upload to are WeTransfer and TransferKit and SendFileOnline

Please post me the link to the file

Thanks. Just need to check why the files we replaced earlier are being flagged again in your latest CBS.log

I'm a bit tied up with stuff tonight, so it may be tomorrow at the earliest (my time GMT+1) before I get back to you.

Took a lot less time than I expected ... so ...

Latest log looks good, please try updating.

If successful, please let me know.

If not, please post me your latest CBS.log

Not seeing any clues in your latest CBS.log which does not look complete, since the last entry in it is for yesterday ....

Code:

OK, absolutely nothing showing in your latest log.

Please try updating again.

If it fails again (as it may well do), please post the new CBS.log and let's see if that gives more information than the last failure log did. If not we'll have to try something a little different to find out what we need to know.

Failed/rollback occurred on reboot. The CbsPersist is included as well since it overflowed.

Well, I can see where the update is failing in the CBS.log, but can't really see exactly why, because the log isn't giving me enough information.

Am going to have to consult with my colleagues on this, which will probably take quite a while. Will get back to you ASAP, but it may not be today.

In the meantime, can you please post me your .... %windows%\INF\setupapi.dev.log
