[SOLVED] Windows 2022 fails WU -- metadata corruption

This doesn't look good at all.
I've failed to perform an in-place upgrade of Windows as none of the ISO's I've tried (the original evaluation version and the one that can be downloaded from MS) allows me to keep applications and settings.
I will send you a link for the original MSDN ISO image (Standard and Datacenter 2022) (Build: 20348.1). With this ISO (English) you should be able to perform an in-place-upgrade.

I'ts now uploading to my private pCloud drive and will send the link in a private message within 10 minutes.

Thanks for the ISO. However, I can't do the in-place repair right now as the license key is in the safe at the customer's... I can pick it up on Tuesday and will then try again. I've just verified that the database still works, which is a relief.

If it's a retail license you can retrieve it from the registry:
Code:
wmic path softwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform

It worked! Your ISO did the trick -- and the most useful piece of information about the reg key.
Thanks a hundred, this really lifted a burden off my shoulders, I've had this problem for months!

Hi,

You're welcome. Glad to hear you were able to fix this server with the (rtm) MSDN ISO... (y)
I will mark this thread as solved.
