Windows 7 64bit - March Monthly Rollup KB4489878 - failed to install with Error code 80073712

Thank you! I'll let you know in next few days, as soon I can access to that pc, I can't try at now cause it is turned off and my remote teamviewer session doesn't work.
Bye!

Tried, but it returns:
"la caratteristica desiderata si trova in un cd o in un altro disco rimovibile non disponibile"
Inserire il disco "Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 (ITA)" e scegliere OK

Translated (more or less):
The feature you are trying to use is located in an unavailable cd or other removable disk
pease insert disk "Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.2 (ITA)" and press OK

Tried to uninstall .NET 4.7.2 and reinstall the old .NET 4.5.2.
Then run Winupdate: it seems to install new packages for .NET framework, also .NET 4.7.2.
Then I tried to install Italian language pack as you suggested above, but again it fails as I show above: it can't find a missing file from .net framewrok 4.5.2 called:

netix_FullLP_GDR_x64.msi

EDIT:
Tried to install ITA Language pack for .NET old version 4.5.2. It ask for uninstall or restore, I chose restore and ended successfully.
Then I tried to install the new italian language pack, the one for .NET 4.7.2 and it completed without errors!
Likely the above error was caused by previuos language pack missing.

Anyway, time to try windows update (the prevoius section failed to install cumulative April update... let's try after .NET lang pack repaired).

Ok, I ran windows update and chose all updates, included the optional ones:

- April monthly rollup - KB4493472 (recommended) - Failed with error: 80073712

- Update for windows 7 systems based on x64 - KB3102429 (optional) - Failed with error: 80070490

- Preview of Quality Rollup for .NET Framework... - KB4487256 (optional) - Completed

After that I rebooted the machine... Retried update and it finds the same above failed updated. Also this time win update can't install them with the same error codes.

Here you find CBS.log:
CBS-12-04.zip

Thanks again!
Bye

Step#1 - Export registry as hive

  • Click on the Start button and in the search box, type regedit
  • When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing
  • Once selected, click File > Export....
  • Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (.).
  • Name this file ComponentBasedServicing (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right-click on the saved file and choose Send To -> Compressed (zipped) Folder.
  • Attach the .ZIP file to your next post.
  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload to SendSpace and just provide the link here.

Thank you!
Powered on remote PC few hours ago, I should be able to control it with Teamviewer by now.
Waiting for your next advices! ;);)

Tried x64 version, but it returns "didn't installed".
I can't find file your requested log file: setupapi.dev.log
Anyway there are similar named files in that folder "inf", look at attached zip archive.

The file you request:

setupapi.dev.log

Is missing.
I can't find it in "inf" directory, neither under any other path of the PC..
If you have any suggest to make it appear, thenks in advance!

I searched around about missing "setupapi.dev.log" file but can't find anything similar...
Any ideas to regenerate that log file? Or why isn't it in that "C:\WINDOWS\INF" folder?

Please do not bump the thread with multiple replies.

Thanks.

Please export the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\LogLevel

Sorry for my bumping, I wasn't able to find that log... Anyway, exported key attached:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

LogLevel value is set to "2000ff00"

Thank you!

Upgrade to windows 10 could be an option, but we will have to buy a proper license isn't it?

My doubts are about interface differences between win7 and win10 or any other linux DE... users habits are really hard to change and for some user learn new features will be really an issue... Anyway sooner or later we will have to change it.

PS.
I'm also considering to try a linux distribution. It is a small office with very basic needs...

We have an OEM (acer compact desktop) windows 7 home premium license.
Could you add a link to docs in whichi is explained how to upgrade to windows 10 without buy an other license?
Thanks a lot! Bye
