Windows 7 - Windows Update failure (caused by faulty memory stick in laptop)

Following fix will remove and repair the registry key for the SuperFetch service.
Download the attachment and extract it.
Open the extracted folder, double-click the file sysmain.reg.
When prompted allow to change the registry settings.
Report the result.

Thanks. Registry entries successfully processed - service statup type is now Automatic and DisplayName uses the environment variable instead of the hard coded path. No other effects.
 
Perform a new scan with FRST and provide the 2 log files.

  1. Right-click to run FRST64.exe as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    Note: Your antivirus program may report FRST incorrectly as an infection. If so, disable the real-time protection when downloading and running FRST.
  2. Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
  3. Press the Scan button.
  4. Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
  5. Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.
