[SOLVED] Windows 7 x64 Update Error Code 80070490

Great. Please do the following.

Manual Install of an Update
 1. Download KB3004375 and save it to your desktop. You can use the one you already downloaded if you wish.
2. Install this update from the downloaded file.
3. If it fails to install, please zip and send me the following two logs
C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

Just out of curiosity, how do I go about learning this stuff so that I can eventually learn how to troubleshoot windows based issues such as this ? Is there a starting point on which begin learning how to troubleshoot windows updates and other windows issues?

Perhaps I'd be able to make a contribution once I begin to understand it better, I am pretty proficient at learning new software specific troubleshooting but usually need a good starting point, not sure where to begin with this stuff other than asking on forums....

There is a Windows Update academy here that you can take. If it's something you are interested in you can contact Niemiro who could provide you with more information. There really is no information on the net regarding this stuff and only a select few of us that attempt to fix them.
