Do you have your Windows 8.1 installation media?

Hi Aura,

No I don't. We bought 2 of the exact same ACER laptops from a store with Windows 8 pre installed. Later Microsoft upgraded them via Update to 8.1.

The Laptop I use is perfect, it has Windows 10 on now, no issues. While the one, my father use, is the one that you are helping me with.

Regards

Did they come with a pair of discs called "Recovery" or "Restore"?

Let's check something. Follow the instructions below please.

You do have a Recovery Partition, but I'm sure that refreshing it would downgrade you to Windows 8. I was wondering because a repair install in your case might be faster to solve the issue. Click on the link below and download the Media Creation Tool for Windows 8.1.

Are you able to download an .iso (image) for your version and edition of Windows 8.1?

Hi Aura

I opened the link and to my surprise I see this laptop is still running Windows 8 and not 8.1 as I thought. I am sorry about that.

Should I continue with that link?

If you click on "Check for solutions to this problem", what comes up?

There's always a possibility for me to fix all the issues one by one. I would just have to look into it first since there seems to be an issue with the manifest files I'm providing you (the hashes doesn't match). If the Refresh option doesn't work, maybe the Reset one is (this is a Factory Reset), however it doesn't keep anything so you would have to back up all your data first.
