Windows 8 Random freezes + BSODs

At this moment I have installed Windows8 x64 and:

- All updates.
- All drivers updated (Pinnacle drivers NOT installed).
- Directx.
- Net framework, Java and Flash.
- Firefox.
- MPCHC.
- LAV codecs.
- Virtual Clone.
- Powerdvd. (TMT5 NOT installed)

I have tested the system for eight hours and everything seems fine. NO BSODs, NO crash, all well.

I have made a disk image with Acronis.

Now I'm going to install the drivers for the Pinnacle TV card and I will report results.

Very Thanks for all you.

Regards.

Well, I've added the Pinnacle drivers, I have configured Windows Media Center and I installed Foobar2000.

I´m testing everything. Watching TV, videos, BD3D, playing music...
For now everything is OK. NO BSODs, NO crash...

Should I run the Driver Verifier?

No, no need to run Driver Verifier.

Driver Verifier is a useful tool for helping to track down problems with a system that occur prior to it being enabled. If no problems are occurring, it will often give us false positives due to crashes. Verifier should only be used as a tool to help us track down possible reasons behind system problems that already exist.

The system is stable but:

1- The Pinnacle device did not work 100% OK, but not crash, no BSOD...( driver obsolete )

2- I have problems with TMT5 if I have Driver Verifier enabled. Every time I run TMT5, with Driver Verifier enabled, I have a "BSOD" on "Arsec.sys".
I have contacted Arcsoft and they have answered me this:

Support Answer:
Hello Mimi,

Thank you for your feedback.

As you said the case happens sometimes, so could you please create a ASLOG file for us to have a check? Your cooperation and patience would be very much appreciated.

I will keep you informed.

Regards.

Thank you for the update. :-}

Hopefully ArcSoft is able to help you solve the problem with the software. Look forward to finding out what they discover from the logs. We may all learn something in the process.

Hello friends

Arcsoft, for now, did not solve the problem:banghead:.

I do not use TMT5 but I had some freezes, all when I'm watching 3D films with PowerdDvd. Freezes and not BSOs.

I solved these freezes with one of these things, or both, not sure:

- Changing the HDMI cable between the PC and the receiver (I noticed that when I move the cable, just a little, the image would disappear).

-Increase the memory allocated for graphics to 1 gig, and changing to fixed-size memory, not automatic (this part from the BIOS).

My system is now very stable, no BSODs and no freezes anymore, tested for more than one month.

Very thanks for your help.:thumbsup2:

Thank you for the valuable information! Nice work with the troubleshooting. We also really appreciate you posting back to let us know your solution with the HDMI cable and the allocated display device memory.
