Very good, it worked!

Let's verify the replacement with DISM.

DISM /RestoreHealth Scan

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Right-click on the Start
    w8start.png
button and select Command Prompt (Admin)
  2. When command prompt opens, Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Right-click > Paste) the following command into it, then press Enter

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  3. When DISM finishes scanning your component store, zip up and attach your CBS log to your next post:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

If the zip file is larger than 8MB, please use a file sharing service such as OneDrive, DropBox, SendSpace, etc. and include the link with your reply.

Looks good, no errors detected :)

Please try the update again. If it fails, attach C:\Windows.~bt\sources\panther\setupact.log and C:\Windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log with your reply.

I appreciate your help. Will try update first then the upgrade. Will let you know if successful.

I updated Windows first. Rebooted and checked for updates again and there were no more. I disabled my antivirus went to the Windows store and clicked the Upgrade to "Windows 8.1 with media center" It downloaded and rebooted and tried to install and appeared to hang at 82% where it always stops at. A popup window said "Sorry we couldn't update to windows 8.1 error 0x800F0830-0X20020003. Then it restored my old windows.
Dropbox - setupact.zip
Dropbox - CBS (4).zip

Looks like some of the updates are causing the new Windows 8.1 image to become corrupted.

Let's try skipping the upgrade to Windows 8.1 and go directly to Windows 10.

Do you have your license information for your antivirus product handy? If so, please try uninstalling the antivirus software (and restarting the computer) before attempting the upgrade.

Click the Upgrade Now button on the Microsoft Windows 10 Upgrade page: Windows 10
Windows 8 is supposed to be supported, but if it asks for a product key or you get an error message, STOP and post back with the details.

I tried once to upgrade to Windows 10. I think I disabled my antivirus at that time. I will try uninstalling it this time.

Windows 10 installed successfully. It changed my default programs but I can work thru that. Seems like everything is working. That was my goal to upgrade to Windows 10 before the July 29th deadline and you helped me accomplish it. Many Thanks. Any more advice or guidance?
