Windows Can't Update error

How can I tell if it's working after the restart? Should a command prompt window have opened and be running chkdsk or is it purely in the background and something will pop up when it's done. After the restart, I don't see any indication it's running.

I have tried multiple times but unfortunately, it doesn't seem like CHKDSK will run after a restart.

Hey Maxstar, thank you for all of your help trying to resolve my issues. I really appreciate it.

It looks like my best or only solution at this point will be to do a fresh re-install of Windows.

Hi,

Sorry, for some reason I no longer received notifications of this thread!

It's very strange why CHKDSK won't run, could you please run the following tool?

Download
6198cd309385f-58a60a47ed1bd-ListChkdskResult.PNG
ListChkdskResult.exe and save it on your desktop.
  • Rightclick ListChkdskResult.exe and select Run as administrator.
  • Notepad will open the file ListChkdskResult.txt on completion. (This logfile ListChkdskResult.txt is also saved on your desktop.)
  • Post the logfile ListChkdskResult.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Hi,

Please try to run CHkDSK again with the following command and post the result. Attach also a new copy of ListChkdskResult.
Code:
chkdsk /f

Damn, that still didn't work.

It's crazy, I can't even start up in Safe Mode. When it restarts and is supposed to give me the "Advanced Options" selection, all I have is "UEFI Firmware Settings". Also, the only way I can shut down the computer is to hold Shift and click Shutdown, otherwise the computer will try to shutdown but restart.

But, nothing I tried would get the chkdsk to run in fix/repair mode.

Hi,

Since when you can't boot normally anymore? Do you have recent backups to use to re-image this system before this issue started?
